SDE I (Backend) at TravClan is a key role which ensures a smooth experience for our customers on our website/app. You will work in close liaison with almost every internal team providing help with Lead Management System, Booking Management System,Payment Gateway, etc. And, will be working with product owners to understand what the business needs in terms of technology.

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful/GraphQL APIs using Python (Django/FastAPI/Flask) and Node.js (Express/NestJS).
Build and optimize microservices architecture, ensuring high availability, performance, and fault tolerance.
Design and manage relational and NoSQL database schemas (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis).
Integrate third-party APIs and services (payment gateways, travel inventory/GDS systems, notification services).
Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code with strong unit/integration test coverage.
Optimize application performance, including query optimization, caching strategies, async processing, and load handling.
Implement message queues and event-driven systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS) for asynchronous workflows.
Collaborate with DevOps to containerize and deploy services (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines).
Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design decisions.
Debug and resolve production issues, working with observability tools (logging, monitoring, tracing).
Ensure security best practices in API design, including authentication, authorization, input validation, and data protection.
Strong proficiency in Python (Django, FastAPI, or Flask) or Node.js (Express/NestJS).
Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles; experience with GraphQL is a plus.
Experience with relational databases like MySQL/PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.
Hands-on expertise with Redis and Elasticsearch.
Experience with message queuing systems like RabbitMQ, Kafka, or SQS.
Familiarity with Docker for containerization.
Good understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems fundamentals.
Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design fundamentals.
Good grasp of application security practices (OWASP basics, JWT/OAuth, input sanitization).
Ability to write unit/integration tests (pytest, Jest, Mocha).
Knowledge / hands-on experience of the following are added advantages:
Kubernetes for orchestration.
CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
Firebase integration and usage.
API gateway and rate-limiting strategies.
Real-time systems (WebSockets, Socket.io).
Cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) and serverless architectures.
Have 1-4 years of professional backend development experience.

Bring good understanding of caching layers (Redis, Memcached) and CDN strategies as a plus.

- Has not worked on 2-3 backend applications independently
- Lacks basic proficiency in either Python (Django) or Node.js (Express).
- Has not created any backend applications from scratch
- Is not comfortable with long working hours i.e. 10 - 12 hours daily
- Is not comfortable working 5 days a week from office in Delhi
2. Technical Assessment Task: This one-hour role specific assessment will be an evaluation of the ‘must have technical skills’ mentioned above.
3. Personal Interviews: 2-3 video interviews. Detailed discussions about the job profile, company & candidature are discussed in these rounds.
4. Extending an offer: On successfully clearing the interview rounds, the job offer is extended to the candidate. This includes financial benefits, ESOPs and many other benefits.
